Dinner for Schmucks (2010) has some dumb laughs

Mouse-a-lisas are cool. Remember that. Oh yeah and everything happens for a reason. Dinner for Schmucks has some cool mouses in it. Too bad we only see them for a little bit.

What’s it all about? Tim (Rudd) is a rising executive who “succeeds” in finding the perfect guest, IRS employee Barry (Carell), for his boss’s monthly event, a so-called “dinner for idiots,” which offers certain advantages to the exec who shows up with the biggest buffoon.

This is the second I’ve tried to watch this movie. The first time I gave it a good 5 minutes and turned it off. Well, a few years have passed since it’s release. The movie has some really funny parts. It’s got a dark comedy feel at times.  What a cast of characters that at the time weren’t as famous as now. Steve Carell’s character Barry plays close to the dumbest man on earth with heart. Paul Rudd’s character Tim is a man with not a lot of back bone and determined to get to the seventh floor where all the big dogs are.  through a series of events Steve Carell’s helps Paul Rudd’s Character grow.

Is dinner for schmucks a underrated gem of a comedy movie?

What makes this movie funny is the cast. The story is so so. The director Jay Roach knows how to do comedy with big name stars. Everyone from Paul RuddSteve CarellStephanie Szostak, Bruce GreenwoodJemaine ClementJeff Dunham, Ron Livingston, Chris O’DowdDavid WalliamsJay RoachLucy PunchOctavia SpencerPatrick FischlerNick Kroll and Zach Galifianakis, to name a few. They all have fun with what’s given to them.

I think over the years more people will discover this hidden gem of a comedy movie. I guess even not the smartest people on the planet can be a great help in solving your problems.

FINAL THOUGHTS: 0 snores out of 5 snores ~ It’s a WIDE AWAKE classic comedy. This movie has a lot going for it. This movie has gotten better with time. Stick with it it’s a good movie.
